Marvin Heiferman is an American writer who was born in 1948. Throughout Heiferman's career he created projects that focuses on the impacts photography has on subjects such as art, visual cultures, and galleries. In one of his most famous writings called "Photography Changes Everything," Heiferman challenges the idea that there is no simple form to explain a photograph. We, as a whole challenge the idea that we do not just look at photographs, we make them.

Before reading the article "Photography changes everything," I thought of photography as a way of expressing oneself. I thought photography was simply just taking photos for self excitement, but it is much more than that. Photography defines us by the photographs we view, make, use, and share.

Photography is created by us, the people. Before reading the article I would have never thought of photography as "important" on social media, but that is not the case. Photography is the main reason social media expands. With Instagram, Snapchat, Twitter, Facebook, etc. photographs are the main source of communication. Humans stress about what is considered a "good enough" photo for social media because we know what to anticipate to look for in a photo "acceptable" for media. Before reading the article "Photography Changes Everything," I would have only thought photography was a source of expressing oneself, but it is much more than that. Photography is the way of life, photography changes everything in life.
